Kossuth county, Iowa
Was curious who has planted it in the past couple years and what they thought of it? Do you think Pioneer owning it will make it better or worse? TIA

I'm sure it will be just like all the other seed companies that get gobbled up. The genetics will be from the same breading programs and eventually just be turned into one company bag. Just like monsanto did with ASI and Channel. Syngenta with its three different brands that are all the same.

I hope it is not as bad as what Syngenta did to their three brands. We used to plant Garst and a little Golden Harvest before Syngenta bought them. After they bought them we tried both for a few years and it cost us so much money that we won't consider planting them again for a good while.

There were like 20 bushels an acres below Dekalb and Pioneer.

From what I can tell Channel didn't get screwed up by Monsanto when there were bought.

So maybe Ag Venture will be more like the Channel buyout and hopefully not like Syngenta...

I planted quite a bit of Garst last year and it was beating Dekalb by about 10 bu on average. Planted more this year

I plant about half of my corn acres to AgVenture and the other half to DeKalb. Not really an advantage for either company, the difference shows from one number to another, not which bag it came out of.
Edit: I don't sell either kind of corn.

The buzz in the seed industry right now is that Syngenta will combine all their brands and sell only under NK in the near future.

Yes. I heard the same rumor from my DSM. Next summer they will combine Garst and GH. In later years they will combine them with NK.

That is probably a good idea. Start with a clean slate then they can use marketing resources to promote NK against Dekalb and Pioneer.

All of the syngenta beans are already NK beans anyways. Many of the Garst, Golden Harvest, NK corn is overlapped and can be back traced on their numbers. It will be just like Crows, Midwest becoming Channel Seeds. It will be good for it to be under one brand name I think. Make things less complicated IMO, if they are already the same genetics what is the difference?

So you guys think AgVenture and the other recent Pioneer purchases might turn into an ASI group or Channel type brand, basically all Monsanto genetics? or do you think they'll still be able to pull genetics from DuPont, Monsanto, and Syngenta?

...

They made the lineup of those companies better, but now it looks like they are working hard on screwing up the company.

I won't speak for AgVenture. But I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that NuTech will still pull genetics from DuPont, Monsanto, Syngenta, and others. Only reason they wouldn't have anything from M would be if M's nose got out of joint because they couldn't buy NT, and canceled their contract, which I don't think would really be in M's best interest. Nutech will actually have a more diversified lineup than P.

Are you sure that hasn't already happened. From what I was told last year Nutech wouldn't have any M traits in any of their corn once the old inventory was gone.

Looking through the 2010 catalog that appeared to be true.

I'm positive. Better look through the 2010 catalog again, because there's plenty of M material in there. Currently, approximately 40% of NT's line is M material, and that isn't supposed to change unless M gets bent out of shape, and decides not to do business with NT.

I don't believe that going foward you will see any new genetics from any company other than Dupont. You can't tout Pioneer as the premier seed genetics in the world if you can't even fill the line up of your own company with them. How do you explain to a Pioneer dealer that Pioneer gentics won't cut it a NU Tech bag but you have to sell them. I give it four years and it will be all Dupont.

Why would you outsource genetics if you can get them in house?

To get better ones.  IMHO

Pioneer has work to do yet, at least in the early (<105 day) varieties they have a serious lack of dry down in the G2 genetics.

Channel is having a very hard time at the moment with the new combination of Midwest and Crow's.

From certain individuals that I have talked to have mentioned that Channel lost approx. 350,000 units this year to other competitors as well as former Midwest and Crow's salesman leaving and selling for another seed company because of the lose in sales.

Sorry to disapoint, but Nutech will not offer Monsanto or Syngenta genetics once their current seed stock is gone. Do you REALLY think Pioneer (who owns Nutech) is going to PAY MONSANTO for monsanto genetics when Pioneer can make money off their own genetics????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO WAY!!!!!!

Nutech is going to be just like Channel or Stone, only offering the genetics of the company that owns them!!!! The only advantage to Nutech is the owners of the company made off like bandits and had a huge payday from selling the Nutech Brand.

Yes they are, but I don't think it's because of their products, more b/c of Monsanto take over. I've heard 35 DSM's have quit or taken jobs with other companies?

From the Nu Tech online seed guide..."2 back to back years of destroying every Monsanto hybrid on the market" This doen't sound like a relationship building statement. There are plenty of other statements like this one. Do you really think they plan to continue with Monsanto?
