Subject: RE: What direction were you going?

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I was just reading the documentation for the new EZ-Guide 500 this afternoon.

The text indicates that the cross track error in East-West operations is generally twice that of North-South operations. Trimble says the reason being that the GPS satellites do not go over the poles and that this error is consistent in any brand of equipment since it is a limitation of the GPS system itself.

Unfortunately most of my fields are such that they lend themselves to East-West operations rather than North-South.

I've got to agree completely with D.G. and others remarks concerning using WAAS. An EZ-Guide type system with WAAS is very useful for many operations but is just not suitable for planting row crops.
