Malheur County Oregon | Hank, We are plowing cornstalks that have been shredded down and disked twice and the only time we have trouble is if they get wet from rain the plow It has a lot more clearance than the old Jd 4200 Our 8320 handles the 7 bottom fine. In ripped wheat ground going to a row crop we pull a tire roller behind the ripper to firm the top of the soil up an that helps the quality of the plow job.
If I may make a suggestion we rented a field on time that was in alfalfa and to tear it out we set the gauge wheels on the plow just as shallow as possible and crowned the hay with the plow and let it set a week or 10 days and then came back and plowed it deep. It worked really well actually.
Attached is a pic of what our corn stubble looks like
