Northeast Nebraska
We have an 05 12 row planter. 1770NT.

We went to GS2 this year and auto steer. Our planter always has to be displayed on the GS2 as the "original" greenstar look.

What does it take to get the new gs2 readout for the planter. New wedge box?

Slicker than a Yes album.
Near the bottom. See dealer for all details, they had a rebate program on earlier this spring to convert the older seedstar 1 planters.

All you need to convert your planter to SS2 is one AA69792 wedgebox. The box actually comes less software and you will need your dealer to load the software, Otherwise plug and play.

we asked out deere dealer if we could do the same thing, and they said it would be about $8K or so to redo the planter to wire it up for a GS2. Decided to live with the brown box look on the screen and wait till we update planters

Long as its 2004 or newer Seedstar GenII planter the wedgebox (AA69792) is the only thing required to view planter functions thru 2600. To make it capable of Row Command requires reharnessing and clutches. That would likely be more than $8000 depending on number of rows of coarse....

Mid-East Nebraska

one AA69792 wedgebox
SeedStar™ 2 controller (wedgebox)...Note: this controller is blank (no software) from service. Install latest version software from the John Deere Customer Performance Website using generic serial number A01700B000000. The payload file will include software for both the main controller “PM1” (on all SeedStar™ planters) and auxiliary controller “PA1” (on all SeedStar™ planters with 25 or more rows).

He doesn't need a kit, all he needs is the wedgebox for $1700.
