Central IL | I was beginning to think I was the only one feeling that way. I hadn't intended to sell any beans until a little later, like around March 15th or so. I've sold around 25% of my anticipated 2007 production at this point. I'm still holding around 20% of my 2006 corn that I've been selling a little bit of every week or so the last few weeks. I'll probably still hold a few "roll the dice" bushels for any spring or summer weather surprises.
My thinking:
Profits are pretty darn good now.
The market didn't follow "historic" patterns last fall, which leaves me wondering about "historic" spring patterns.
I sold some corn during a "historically" good pattern time last spring for $2.58 fall delivery. That was sure a great move when I could've sold it across the scales for a dollar more.
Perhaps I'm just paranoid, but I suspect a bumpy ride that will test a lot of nerves. | |
