I'm still using tape in my Sony cam-corders. But I do know that I really like the Sony products. They work & they're fixable.

Many talk now about the new smaller MiniDV disks. You burn directly to them w/camera. Problem is (for me anyway), they only hold 20 min of movie stuff. Hi-quality tape is 1 hr. Sony now also has cam-corders w/a hard-drive (40 gb) built in. No more tape-disk format. They're still a little pricey @ $900 thru Sony. Probably a little cheaper thru the NYC outfits.
