Subject: Re: 3176 Cat vs L10 Cummins?

Well put CATGUY. Worked on a lot of C-10 and 12's in my CAT days. The only thing negative about the C-10 and 12's was the head gasket issues. Great little engines. There were a few guys running 3406 B models that were a little scared of the C-12's on the hills around here. C-12 would pass them up. I wouldn't put the 3176 in the same category as the C-10 and 12's either. Much improved engine. So to answer the earlier post, I would shy away from a 2YG or 7LG serial number 3176. A 9CK wouldn't be the end of the world.
