Good younger Red and RWF cows with calf at side are around $1100. 3-fers maybe $1200.

A good cow especially with a heifer calf at side and especially if bred to a good bull is a piece of production machinery, not a piece of meat.  At 51 cents a pound you are buying or selling meat. At $1200./pair you are looking to the future potential of that cow or cow/calf.

They need to be looked at differently.
