Missed your post last night so a delayed response. I normally sell cattle by auction through the Gunnedah saleyard (sale barn), usually sell as feeders for others to feedlot. I decided to have the steers in the post below custom fed for me as the price for feeder cattle was too low at the time. Also a good experience to see how my own cattle perform in the feedlot. The steers in the post were sold direct to the processor on a grid based system. $3.50/kg carcase was the top price with deductions for too much/too little fat, meat colour, fat colour, age and probably more that I don't know about. Mine weighed 330kg carcase weight so returned about $1150. One steer was reduced to $3.45/kg for excess fat. Gunnedah sale report attached if you are interested.
