Ray, in south Texas planting season started in February. Earlier in some parts of the country.
When my FIL worked for Asgrow he would have to rant and rave to get his seed in time for planting down there. They figured nobody planted earlier then April and would get in trouble with the south Texas market every year.
And the thing of it was, they had some of the best corn varieties out there then for that country.
