Subject: RE: Pirelli Ag tires

Nusbaum Farms LLC Bellfountain, OR
I replaced a set of 18.4-38 Goodyear Dynatorque radials with Pirellis on a JD 8430 about 4 years ago. I'm really happy with them. I had chronic power hop with the Goodyears...never has happened yet with the Pirellis. I also like the long bar/ long bar design of the Pirellis vs. the long bar/ short bars on the Goodyears. I don't think I'll ever (willingly) buy another long bar/ short bar tire. I will say that the Goodyears did wear well, but the main thing that made me replace them was that the sidewalls began to fail. They were never abused or ran soft. The only thing that I'm leery of with the Pirellis is that they're a deep lug R-1, and this tractor does a lot of fall plowing on hard annual ryegrass ground. I'm seeing a little fatigue at the base of the lugs, hopefully its not too serious. Wear seems very minimal at 1000+ hrs.
