Subject: RE: gas to diesel jd 2520

Statesville, NC
The 2520 diesel has the 219 cu. in. engine, same size as the 2020, 2030, 2440 and some other industrial equipment and maybe a 3300 combine. I think the later 239 diesel is the same size externally. The best place to start would be JD parts catalogs and see what interchanges. The 3020 was a larger engine, basically a four cyl. 270 cu. in. version of a 4020, but I don't think they held up as well as the 219-239 engines. There is also a 276 engine which is basically a longer stroke 239 and it may fit too. If I just had the time and money I would take a 2520 and stretch the frame and hood and put in a 329 six cylinder and make it a "3520". Deere actually did this later with different styling, it was the 4030.
