Subject: RE: forage peas

We grew an oats and pea mix for years. Makes a good feed but was always thinking the peas didn't have the % that it should have, possibly due to the seeding depth or other factors. WE grow field peas now, Minnuettes (sp) and Salutes. They are a yellow pea and with this last year of drought we hayed quite a few acres. They make really good feed but I can see that it could be a challenge to get it to dry down to bale. We switched to strait peas to mainly have a change in rotations in our no-till system and the LDP helped too. Although LDP's may be a thing of the past.
