Subject: Re: IH 5088

Farming in NW Iowa
I have a 5288 and like it a lot. The transmission is 3 ranges with 6 speeds in each range. 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6 can be powershifted in each range. A 5088 has a DT436 and should have 135 HP minimum. I got mine with 6300 hours on it. I have 7800 on it now, and the only work I have done is replace the injectors, rod and main bearings and rod bolts. Hasn't been overhauled yet. I have replaced the drive disc in the flywheel, which is pretty common. They have wet brakes and a wet clutch. Most of them seem to fade the paint into 3 different colors so a lot of them have been repainted by now. I know a guy with a 5488 he will sell for around $17000, has 3000 hours on a complete reman engine.
