Subject: RE: Not sure on the machinery issue.

Macon, IL
I have a 6-row machine-360 bu hopper and slightly turned up engine-I paid $7,500 for it and $8,500 for 6 row corn head. With hauling being our main constratint we can get 35-40 acres per day of 180 bu corn. Combine runs about 4.5mph. Total investment of 16,000+2k in repairs last couple years-heck call it 20k.

So if I spend 5x the money-say 100k on a new(er) 6-row combine you think I can push 5x the acres..ie. 200 acres per day through it?

Also have a 160hp tractor I paid 10k for. 5 years and has never caused a problem yet. How much more productivity should I expect to get out of a new 100,000 160hp tractor?
