Still have the tickets from two purchases back in the 70s.

One was a 100hp tractor with cab and duals. All options at the time. 17500.00 in 77

Next was combine with 20ft bean head/6RN corn head. Total cost 21000 in 75

I am sure someone can run the numbers for us to factor in inflation.

I had a professor tell me once that machinery today was cheaper per unit of output than it used to be. Keep in mind "per unit of output" may not be a horsepower measurement. Might be a bushel measurement which would account for production improvements as well. At the very least it would have been an acres of output type measurement. I kind of doubt that he just made this statement up though. I am confident there was some research behind it.

How many acres of corn could you shell in a day with that machine?
Compare that to how many acres could be shelled with a new machine today?
