nw pa | This article gives the ins and outs better than I could. It seems it can be done by running a buffer ahead of the ethanol this of course has it's on problems. I heard that sometime last summer they had a test run in the midwest and it worked well. trying to find that article but found this one. Ethanol by itself doesn't seem to cause much corrosion but it cleans the pipes so well that it allows moisture to then attack the pipe. It is tough on welds though. from the way this is written , pipelines will be the only way to handle large volumes.
