Subject: RE: Hickory Pie

Lapel, In
Been doing a little Googling. Some say to soak the nuts in hot water for a while before cracking them. Softens the nuts up and they don't "explode" when hit with a hammer or when squeezed in a vice or nut cracker. More meats are supposed to come out whole that way.Gonna try that.
??????? I wonder if there would be a way of sawing them in half with a bandsaw ??????

One site said to save the husks for use in smoking meat, burning in fireplace for Hickory smell. etc.
