Thanks Don, I didn't mean my comments as a criticism to you, actually the intent of my statement was to thank you for shedding some light on the subject.

I guess my thinking would be consistent with some of the other posts concerning the elevation mask. I was thinking this was a value to "filter out" low lying GPS satellites at any given time.

I wouldn't think that the Mask would apply to the WAAS satellite but rather the GPS satellites themselves.

On another vein, this elevation mask may explain why my cheap Garmin reports 10 satellites while at the same time my more expensive units report less. In this situatuion more is not necessarily better??
