SC Iowa | There is plenty of "chaff" being thrown about these days.....here is a link to one group's analysis, which does include a lot of graphs and some slides from FAPRI....
Two very important points to consider in a lot of the numbers being put out today, including this ITAP report.....they all assume "static" corn production numbers, and we know all know that corn production is going to rise.....so when looking at the individual state data, be thinking about how much corn production might rise in your part of the world vs. the bar graphs showing shrinking or deficit corn supplies..
The second is when someone says "2008 consumption".....is that calendar year 2008, crop year 2008, or what?? Does it extrapolate plant capacity and project usage even if the plant started up halfway through the year??
We all know how volatile the corn and ethanol markets have become in the past 24 months, which makes the job of analysis and projection as much an exercise of dart board throwing as an exact science....crude oil values and corn crop sizes are huge factors in how quickly the industry may grow going forward...

The report is found under the "Staying home" area near the top of the page....
