Illinois | Got a call yesterday from the school that said due to widespread illness the grade school would be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. There are NO confirmed cases of H1N1.
In our school district we have schools in 2 towns. A grade school, K-5, in Farmersville. We also have Pre-k - 12 at Raymond. This closing only affects the Farmersville school.
We had kept the 6 year old home on Monday anyway. Over the weekend she had developed fever, cough, headache and sore throat. She is better. She still has cough in the morning due to drainage. The 12 year old was home too. She was feeling puny Sunday night- concerned that she was getting the same thing. She was fine today.
I was talking to a mom friend yesterday that has kids in same school, her 2 younger ones are sick. The doc said their boy was starting with pneumonia and their youngest daughter is just sick. No strep, no flu.
Neither of us was upset that they closed. We can keep kids home make sure they are well without getting behind in their work.
Not sure how this will affect the end of school year procedures. Just have to wait and see what happens, if we have more illness or snow days.
Knock on wood- the Hubby and I are fine.
