Subject: JD 3010 throttle slows how to adjust


Northern Indiana
The throttle on my diesel 3010 will not hold at pto speed. Have not been able to find a place to adjust. anyone know? TIA

open the little door under the dash, should be a bolt against the steering colum . Thinking 1/2" socket. it moves with the hand throttle

That is correct, but it is not easy to get to. Small hand is needed, and you don't have to move it very much

If it's like on a 4020 there is a friction disk in the linkage where that adjustment is. It seems I have replaced them before. Also where the linkage hooks to the steering column tube I have had that connection to start to break away and have had to reweld it.

found the bolt. it will not tighten anymore. wore down? need new one?

The friction lining is inside the tube where the adjustment clamp is, it's probably worn out. Have to pull the str. wheel & raise the tube up a couple inches to slip it in there. May have to take the dash loose, it's been a while since I did one. Usually change them when I pull the steering valve out anyway....
