Subject: Re: Need advice on hardwood floor sanders

Illinois
We are getting ready to sand our kitchen floor and the hubby stopped in at the local rental store to see what type of floor sanders they have. The gentleman there expalined that a drum floor sander is only to be used if the floor boards are cupped/warped. It will smooth and even up the floor. A floor size orbital or finishing sander is what you need for floors that are not warped. Those large drum or belt sanders can get away from you and ruin your floor if that is not the correct type of sander for your job.
The rental store here has both the drum and finishing floor sanders, so I know he wasn't just blowing smoke because he only had the one type to rent. He even told my husband to come down and watch a video they have on floor refinishing before he rents the sander.
Just my 2 cents. Maybe it will help.
