I worked for Ryder for a while, they had a guy that would come around and part of his job was flow rating the grease guns. The guns had to supply a specified minimum amount of grease at a certain pressure to pass.
The reason for he specification was they wanted the grease to enter with enough force to power through a u-jont, slip joint or spindle.
