Sioux County, NWIA | There is some shaking that is normal on those stuffers. Balance isn't perfect on them. If there is knocking I would check the dogbone bearings, the bushings in the tine bar, and the joints where the bellcranks clamp on the tine bar shaft. Tine bar bushings are a pain to replace as they are really hard to extract if worn down but even if they are worn even with the tine bar ID they are not likely to fly apart.
If the bushings are worn out most likely the shaft they ride on will need to be replaced. Shaft can be made at a machine shop using 4140 prehardened shaft. Use a ball nose end mill to make the bolt retaining groove.
There are grease seals at the end of the tine bar tube that are likely pretty destroyed if the tine bar bushings are severely worn.
I have seen a stuffer tine get bent and there could be a bent tine hitting somewhere.
The 5' wide balers have a two piece stuffer that is subject to additional ills at the center joint/offset. | |
