Subject: RE: How many make the old fashioned Horseradish?

Made it once years ago with once being the key word. Grinding it in a food processor drove me out of the kitchen. Had to open the windows and door and let it air out before returning. Ended up with finely grated very hot horseradish but never got it to a paste or sauce consistency. I had a college room mate who grew horseradish for a processor and according to him they mixed it with turnip to make the horseradish go further and to mellow the flavor. He always dug horseradish in September and broke some of the small roots off to save for replanting. Around here months with R in them refers to when oysters (the aquatic kind) are in season.
