| Not sure I understand. To me that’s a 1 ton pickup, gooseneck flatbed area. It could be done with 1/2, 3/4 solid bumper pull with solid hitch.
How many bales? Weight, hills, distance? So any tandem implement bumper pull trailer with +5000 lb axles behind a decent half ton could do loads you suggest on level ground, with functional electric lights, brakes on trailer.
I have a18’. I built deck extender from 2x6 every stake pocket, 18’ 2x4, 2x6 lower on with loader into stake pockets. Hauled 8 5x5 ft round bales. *the rear ramps, overhang in front lane that possible*. I wrapped 2 27’ straps from ramp to each other in front. Then one across front side to side ÎF going on interstate. ;). Then ÎF dry hay 3 bales on top ÎF near home. So 11 bales max. But not ÎF wet, heavy. Then 8 max
I wish it was 20’. But I seldom use it anymore. $3k should get you a decent used. Make sure brakes, lights work, check broken springs, rusted frames. *thru* then appearance. Do not consider a 3500 lb rated axles.
You said “7-10 thousand pounds”. You will be overloaded at 6000lbs. I have always wished I bought next size heavier. If buying new it’s often well under 10% of total price to upgrade. Used you have to adjust. But 3500 axles should never be put on 16’ cattle trailers. Heck any hauling trailer over 14’.
But a 3/4 ton, GNFB 20’ would be much better. Tandem at least 6k axles. Note ÎF not farm, near home there are really STUPID LAWS. IF you find a really nice dually 1 ton pickup. Then find a GNFB with at least 7k axles. You drive over 150 air miles with even empty trailer some states will write you a $$$ ticket, impound tour rig, require you to hire a CDL to drive it within the 150 air miles. Because the combo is SAFE to haul over 26k lbs. the trailer ALONE is capable of hauling over 10k.
So you have choice. Depending on state, distance, your license…. Drive a half, 3/4, SRW 1 ton, with bumper pull trailer…. To avoid stupid laws.
Iirc we had poster here. He took 1 ton dually to get 6 row JD corn head. Maybe 5000 lbs. he took that 1 ton dually with IIRC GNFB with tandem duals. *so 10k to 12k axles* I forget length. But a VERY SAFE rig for 5000 lbs. he got $$$ tickets. Had to hire CDL to drive *I forget but I think 70 miles?*. $$$. Just to go home.
IF he took the wife’s half ton, a bumper pull tandem 3500 lb axle +16’ trailer he is legal with 5k anywhere lower 48 I think. So many stupid laws need to be changed. | |
