Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | It would seem to me that the problem could lie with an incorrect setting for the hydraulic control. There are various choices and the choice that you choose when you create the configuration must agree with the type of valve that is on the spreader.
For example, I had a Hagie STS-10 sprayer where the spray pump speed was controlled by a hydraulic servo valve. Later I traded it for a somewhat newer STS-12. The spray pump speed on it was controlled by a hydraulic PWM valve. This required creating a new configuration for the STS-12 where I chose PWM rather than Servo.
I'll be the first to admit that this doesn't explain why it seems to work after five minutes though.
One of the oldest and most telling tests to perform when having problems like this is to purposely put the system in Manual. You can then experiment with manually attempting to change the speed by using the UP/DOWN arrows. Put in a self-test speed and put the Ag Leader in Manual. Flip the Master switch On and the bed should start to move. Then use the UP/DOWN arrow keys in an attempt to change the speed. You should be able to reliably and predictably be able to change the bed speed.
If you cannot control the speed manually then the system will not behave properly in Auto Rate 1 or Rate 2.
