Southeast Washington | You must have gotten the aspirator pump for south of the equator.
The engine air comes in the top and begins the air swirling to get the dirt to the outside and the suction should pull the dirt out of the pre cleaner. That is the only way the dirt can get out before it plugs your filter. Obviously it isn't working right if the filter is plugging that often. Look closely at the impeller and make sure the nut isn't loose or a key missing to turn it.
The aspirator hose comes down to the center of the pump so as the impeller is spinning it is pulling through the hose and discharging through the outer portion of the aspirator pump into the engine compartment.
Good luck in getting it to work properly again. The plugging filter is annoying and that is when we know we have lost the impeller.
Here is what is left of one of our impellers and the pieces went out through the housing making the holes that shouldn't be there. One combine broke one this year after breaking one last year also. They don't always destroyed the housing. The one this year did explode during the fan reverse so the pieces went and destroyed the radiator so that was really upsetting this year.
