check out this article - be sure to look at the date of the article.

check out this article

and in this article you can find the following:

"In pursuance of the action of the Board of Directors of the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, on the recommendation of the Grain Inspection Cammittee, the standard weight of a bushel of ear corn has been changed from 70 to 68 pounds, to take effect on and after the 1st day of January"

 

It sounds like the standard of "1 bushel" is not as standardized as I would have expected.
