That may be a possibility but I'm not sure. I didn't work on Spra-Coupes much but it seemed like they did certain things differently than other OEMs.
Certain Spra-Coupes used polarity reversing ON/OFF valves. That type of valve expects the controller or switch to reverse the polarity on two of the wires to open or close the valve. Even if this is your situation, it wouldn't seem to explain why they are so slow.
Other valves that contain a polarity reversing internal relay should solve your problem but it would seem you should be able to use what you've got.
