Not familiar with Equator studios, but looks powerful. But why not download the .tif files directly from the USGS to save you that cost? It gets a little complicated, because sometimes you may need 4 files combined to cover the area needed, and then trim the extra that is not needed. But that should be able to be done in your QGIS step.
Are you thinning down the points at all? Like to a point every 15' That might need to be done if you work with larger fields, because WM Subsurface will struggle with too many points.
