NW KS | BSPT threads seem to be common on those listing but I'm not sure you have BSPT threads on your meter. My understanding is that if they were mismatched it would be similar to trying a metric or fine thread bolt in a standard nut or hole. You might get everything started but it would damaged the threads. I have a couple of different made in china flow meters. One is an inch oval gear meter and the other is a 2 inch that I brought after seeing your other post on your 3 inch meter. The one inch seemed to seal up ok without much trouble but that was plastic threads on both sides. The 2 inch leaks a little bit but I haven't tried to seal it and only have it together hand tight. I have had both apart and see no evidence of mismatch threads so my guess is that it is something close to NPT. I would do a little more research on the thread pitch differences between the two. If you have a thread pitch gauge or thread file around and find a chart that should be able to tell you more. One the the retailers around me says to use clear silicone on the larger plastic fittings. They claim it works better than anything else and still comes apart reasonably well even after it dries. I haven't tried it.
I am very pleased with the accuracy on that 2 inch model. I have only tried it once but it was with a load of fertilizer measured with a trade legal mass flow meter. 600 gallons in a dry empty tank. It should I pumped out 597. My guess is the other couple gallons were still in the tank, hose and pump. That was pretty much dead on. | |
