 SW Ohio | They make contactless optical tachs, that use a reflective tape on a shaft or pulley, no way I would use a contact style when you don't have to risk a limb. One method you might use (if your cylinder holds its speed and doesn't drift) is set it to a point and guesstimate how far the belt is sunk in the pulleys and do that for several speeds. I have found when doing corn I seldom change the speed much , beans maybe a little more due to toughness during the day, wheat--don't know.
I know that part seems expensive but unless you are handy and can cobble up a match or modify another one, you don't have many choices to get it right. Have you tried a boneyard?
Not sure how yours managed to fail, with over 8000 hours on a couple of 7720's the only failure I have had is the bearing block on the outboard end of the cable. | |
