Subject: Grain vac leaking oil

I have a older grain vac only use 2 days a year. The air lock is seeping gear oil on the shaft near the belts that drive it. The vent is clean , book says use 80-90 gear oil. Anything wrong with putting a heavier oil in it to slow the leak ? Doesn't leak a lot just makes a mess. Leaks on the end near the pulley and slings it everywhere. Never had to add oil to it. It's a big job to take apart and put new seals in it. Other ideas ? Thanks
