When i was pedaling machinery many years ago, the policy was to tell the customer from far away exactly what the piece is. That included all the flaws that I knew of. If we could agree on a price and he knew what it was, it was marked sold. Now, when he got there, he had a right to back out of the deal if and only if he found something that I left out and it was severe. It rarely happened. If a customer said he wanted to lay eyes on the machine before he bought it, that is fine…. However, i would not hold it for him. If I or any of the other sales people in the company sold it before he got there, it was gone.

About the only deal I remember being backed out of was a salesperson sold a planter that was at a different store. Went to get it and it had major cracks in the frame. Something like that was what you needed to find to back out of something you said you would take.
