Yes on mechanical dial type Speed Queen. That's what we have w/matching dryer. Not fancy at all, but super-reliable.

A few yrs ago the local appliance store repair guy (long time!) said that 90% of service problems on washers were the control packages. Electronic ones were simple to replace, but seemed to be the culprit often. But, even more of a problem was obsolescence of the control boards. He said that often replacement boards became hard or impossible to get through normal channels.

He said the old mechanical "click-click-click" dials are made by many sources and always available. 

Personally, I encourage our washer/dryer user to turn the knobs slowly. Slow enough  that she can count the clicks.
