The speed queen TC5 is the only classic clean model. It has an agitator that turns separate from the tub. Thus a transmission and a little shorter warranty. Sometimes they will give you longer warranty for promotional deals. Has smaller tub than some other washers. Has deep fill setting to get full tub of water. Does not have tempering valve like the other models of SQ and maytug and other competitors. So you get hot water temperature right off of your water heater (our water heater is set at130°). Most others temper hot setting to 90°. Doesn't have a lid lock. Doesn't rate well for energy star ratings. Uses more water, hotter water, and more electricity for a little bigger motor to turn agitator back and forth. SQ tried plastic gears several years back and that didn't work well so they did away with the agitator model for several years. Consumers complained enough that they brought back the agitator model with metal gears in the transmission and dial knob controls. Called it Classic Clean. The knobs still work a circuit board though. The touch pads had a higher failure rate. Don't know if they are worth twice the money for most people but with an elderly parent in a wheelchair and two dogs in the house we do 2 or 3 loads of laundry a day. All in hot water. Appliance dealer has a lot of customers that are livestock farmers that come in and specifically want the tc5. I know that two of the nursing homes and one assisted living facility have several tc5 washers for residents that pay extra to avoid having their clothing washed in the large commercial washers.
