It's not drought resistant because it's been bred to not go dormant in drought. If it DID go dormant in drought, it wouldn't produce as much but would survive forever in that climate. You can get different "dormancies" in alfalfa just like maturities in corn or beans, but I don't know of drought resistance ratings, that's so far out of my experience it's not even funny. Alfalfa is usually killed by frost heave and wet soil in my experience (soils).
