Greenwood MO | back in the 70s-80s we used Treflan/Sencor ppi then planted beans in 30” rows. Nice and clean for a month then had the coop come in over top with classic or pinnacle or pursuit could have been all three I can’t remember. This would get the cockleburs and sunflowers and pigweed, didn’t have water hemp. Basagran was also used plus something for shattercane and johnsongrass (Post or Fusilade) also I think they put some dual on. Then roundup came along in the 90s and RR beans, corn seed and we started burndown and no till and pretty much eliminated all the problem weeds previously mentioned. Rarely see burrs sunflowers pigweed shattercane velvetleaf giant rag anymore, but of course water hemp has become everybody’s #1 problem | |
