Subject: RE: True North and Magnetic North in the same field

Threshold / comfort level? I want them both to work as well as if two of the same steering systems are being used.

If converting lines, I assume you mean, as an example, adjusting the lines from the mag north system 10 degrees east to match the lines from the true north system?

What if no prior lines or conversion, just starting from scratch with new AB heading?

The reason for these questions, I use two different steering systems... one brand for planting, spraying and side-dressing and another brand for tillage, harvest and spreading. Planning to go to strip-till this fall with two 16-row bars, as well as add a second side-dress bar, and the two tractors used will each possibly have a different steering system. Just curious what the possibilities are. From what I've read online and in technical docs it's doable, but from what I hear from farmers who have tried it's not but worth the headache as accurate repeatable parallel and reducing radius drive strategies won't maintain side-by-side accuracy well enough between the two for row crop work (strip-tilling, planting, spraying, side-dressing).
