Kingdom of Callaway - Fulton, Mo 65251 | Thank you to all that responded to my post about feeding potatoes. I ended up getting 4 semi loads.
I spoke to a distributors rep that we deal with for selling various brands of farm machinery and he said when he demonstrates a new TMR mixer, he throws in a 5lb bag of carrots to show how they all get cut up. So we dumped two fescue bales, one wet alfalfa bale, 1000 pounds of syrup, and 2000 pounds of potatoes in our vertical mixer. 5 minutes later, the potatoes were peeled. They looked ready to throw in boiling water for mashed potatoes. 10 minutes after that, they were all smashed or cut up. After we fed them to some old cows, I dig through 40 feet of bunks and only found really small pieces. I think the hay rubbing on the potatoes, along with the knives cutting them did an excellent job of processing, and it was surprisingly fast.
Now if I could just have a regular supply.....
