Subject: RE: Jersey Cows, Angus Bull?

Eastern NE KS
In the early '80s we ran into too much milk from our Simmental cows. The problem was on newborns born towards the end of our spring calving group. The older calves were happily nursing all available milk production from their mothers but newborns not so much.

In our case it was easiest to start calving 3 weeks earlier. We simply needed to minimize calving on robust green grass. This worked fine but an occasional late calver was a potential problem.
