I've fed out some JXA heifers. My experience was that they could be stubby pigs or they could almost fool you into thinking they were straight beef. Highly variable. (The fat little pig heifers were a huge hit as freezer beef.)

JXChar were much more uniform and I believe had more frame and stature.

I would think that saving a few bucks by starting with less "popular" beef base genetics, Hereford, White Park etc. crossed to black would get you farther and faster to your goal than starting with dairy.
