Subject: Jersey Cows, Angus Bull?

Southern MN
Someone I know had the idea of buying some Jersey cows and breeding them to a smaller Angus bull with a low calving weight? I’d plan on keeping any heifers to start and breed them to another angus bull to get as much beef content in them as I can. I can finish out any bull calves as steers in my current set up so that would get a little cash flow, in addition to current livestock.

Is this a worthwhile option or should I wait until I can get some cheaper beef cows? The goal is to start a beef cow-calf operation. Just trying to come up with a plan that might be a little easier on the pockets. Right now I have one bred grade cow and maybe her daughter that’s an angus cross heifer lined up. I’d like to get some nicer cows I can keep around a few years as opposed to buying older cows and shipping them after one calf.

Any other tips or tricks from someone with more experience with beef cows than me are much appreciated. I have experience with cattle, just more on the steer side of things.
