are you sure that is not just left over oil from the oil change that is collecting dust? Take some gas and clean that filter and area around it and see what happens for kicks


OPs pic makes it look like that's a possibility, but mine gets worse than that. And if I do a good wash job after planting that would mean it should be clean from then on. I had to wipe off a thick layer of black oily dust off just to read my marking to know how many hours I put on.


As for the idea of a change in filter quality, I'm pretty sure mine did it before they switched to the first DZ number from RE. Need an opinion from the aftermarket filter users.
