perryton, tx | An experienced rancher suggested to me that in any case of trying to get a cow to claim a calf to leave them separated but close together overnight. When the calf gets hungry and starts bawling the sound is supposed to arouse the cow’s maternal instinct and cause her to seek out the calf. I did this with a graft calf back in March and by the second morning the cow was at the gate trying to get in with the calf. | |
