Calves, cattle and cows, in Minnesotan, I can hear it in my head and probably get close enough for a Coloradan. Watch Fargo for reference "He was kinda funny lookin...". Very few people talk like that, but a teenager from a very small town school sure could. And he might not be the captain of the debate team or forensics team. Teens form the most strictly adhered accents, and a rural area is one of the few places where kids might not be as exposed to broader culture and still perpetuate a strong local accent.
