| I have a springing heifer that I noticed about 4:30 laying 200 feet from seemed almost like she pushed as if calving, walked closer to see better she go up and walked away. went back about an hour later and she was laying down again acted like she was calving not sure if she pushed or not but her tail was straight out in back of her, again I was 200 feet away started walking closer and she got up again, did not look like she should be calving yet, said screw it went home to eat supper. Went back after supper with a less then happy daughter, she was almost as wide as long kind of bloated, back was higher then the hip by 2 inches on the left side, but she was chewing her cud, did not seem concerned or in any sort of duress. Walked her up to the corral, she pooped a little a couple of times, not very much, looked very normal as to consistency, wanted to stop and nibble any spear of green grass all the way to the corral. Got her into the alley, she rubbed both sides some and it at least 32 inches wide, keep in mind he is not a huge heifer. Checked her teats, no milk, very flaccid not much udder, bumped the calf, think I bumped the head easily about 1/2 way up her side. By all indications saw nothing to cause me to think she is close to calving in the next few days. Am I missing something? | |
