Hennepin, IL | Pretty common actually. Problem is those are starter solenoids, made for a lot of current for a short amount of time, lots of heat then cools down. That heat burns off any corrosion. In this application it's fairly low current but constant. It never gets that rush of heat to burn the corrosion off. One trick I've learned is to take the 4 pin connection on the side of the PDM loose. 1 of those wires is what excites the solenoid. Take and stick it in and out a couple dozen times fast, you should hear the solenoid click each time you do. By doing that the corrosion gets knocked/worn off the contacts. Works probably 3-4 out of 5 times when the solenoid is intermittent like that. | |
